I burned my feed
Days ago I discovered feedburner.com.” Our Web-based tools help bloggers, podcasters and commercial publishers promote, deliver and profit from their content on the Web“. I don’t really understand yet why I should use their service, but there must be a reason. So I signed up and burned my feeds. But somehow it doesn’t work for me as it works for others. Figures as I always manage to break things.
They have for example a nice service called MyBrand. MyBrand lets you use your own domain name to host your feed instead of feedproxy.google.com. It puts you in even greater control of your content and its identity. Now that sounds professional. You must have control of your domains DNS (check) and be able to change it the way they expect you to change it (check). Still no go. “The domain you specified is already in use“. What the..? I managed to use an alternate domain for MyBrand, but not the way I wanted it in the first place. But at least it’s working now with feed.nightspirit.nl.
Ok, one problem eliminated. Let’s set up some feeds. One feed for my blog, one for my comments, one for my fiancee… and one for her comments. Three feeds working, fourth goes emo on me. “The uri “–removed–” is already taken. Please choose another” but also “The feed was cancelled and not activated“. Then just release the damn uri so I can use it! Do they really need to make it all so difficult?
Good news also, the wordpress plugin for feedburner DOES work without nagging me. I hope feedburner will resolve my issue soon and I’m happy about it again.
